Clermont, Florida
H2Oasis Pools & Patios is based right here in Clermont — not a call center two counties away. From the rolling hills above the Chain of Lakes to the 55+ communities off US-27, we keep South Lake County pools crystal-clear and patios looking new, all year round.
Clermont isn’t an easy place to own a pool or a paver patio — and that’s exactly why a local crew matters. Our summers run hot from May into October, with near-daily afternoon thunderstorms through the wet season. Florida’s rain is naturally acidic, so a single storm can dilute your chlorine and drop your pH and alkalinity in an afternoon — and with the heat already burning sanitizer off fast, a neglected pool can tip green within days. Add spring’s oak and pine pollen, two lovebug seasons, and the calcium-rich water drawn from our limestone aquifer, and you’ve got a year-round maintenance challenge that rewards knowing the local conditions cold. That’s what we do.
Hard, limestone-aquifer water. South Lake County’s groundwater is drawn from the limestone Floridan Aquifer, which dissolves calcium and magnesium and leaves our water very hard. On pools, that shows up as calcium scale on tile, fixtures, and salt cells; on patios and screens, as hard-water spotting and white mineral haze. We balance calcium hardness and saturation index on every visit and use the right descaling chemistry rather than letting buildup set in.
Heat plus daily acidic rain. From roughly May through September, Clermont sees afternoon storms most days, with July the wettest. Florida rainwater is mildly acidic, so heavy rain both dilutes your free chlorine and pulls pH and alkalinity down — right when summer heat and UV are already consuming sanitizer the fastest. Storm runoff also carries phosphates from fertilizer, leaves, and pollen straight into the pool, feeding algae. We test and rebalance with the season in mind, not on a one-size-fits-all schedule.
Pollen, lovebugs, and the canopy. Live oak and pine pollen peak in March and April, coating decks, screens, and water with a yellow film that adds organic load and drives up chemical demand. Lovebugs swarm twice a year — roughly April–May and again in late summer — and pile up on screen enclosures and pool decks. (Contrary to popular belief, the residue isn’t strongly acidic; the real damage comes from carcasses baking in the Florida sun and staining surfaces if they’re left too long.) We factor the local debris calendar into both pool care and exterior cleaning.
Patios, pavers, and screen enclosures. Our humidity keeps porous pavers and shaded pool decks damp enough to grow algae and mildew within months, not years. Efflorescence pushes a chalky white film up through paver joints, oak tannins leave brown staining, and iron in well and irrigation water oxidizes into orange rust spots wherever sprinklers hit concrete. On screen enclosures — nearly standard here for keeping out bugs and debris — the same humidity grows black Gloeocapsa streaking, while years of UV make the mesh brittle and rust attacks non-stainless fasteners. Each of these needs the right approach, which is why we match the method to the surface.
